A tale of two porters

The first is from Left Hand Brewing in Longmont, CO. I love their milk stout, but the BlackJack Porter leaves something to be desired, in my estimation. Medium bodied, chocolaty, definitely drinkable, but a little boring all the same. If you like your Porters sweet though, this brew might be for you.

Closer to home, Marshall Brewing really hit it out of the park with their Big Jamoke Porter. While most of their year- round offerings are just... "eh", Marshall Co. has really surprised me with their seasonals. Big Jamoke has exactly what I'm looking for in a Porter, big on the malt and big on the hops. Chocolate and coffee balanced with a strong dose of earthy hops. Delicious.
